Technical Horse Riding Breeches Buying Guide

Here at EQUUS we offer a variety of breeches in different styles and at different prices. So we thought we’d show you Kim’s top three technical picks that may be of interest to you.  Many now come with clever features and are made from technical fabrics. These can be really helpful, but they can add to the price.  So we’ve got an economy option which is great for a beginner or for those of you who don’t want to spend too much money; a middle of the road option, which is of a good quality but affordable design; and a top end pair, which are more expensive than the rest but have ‘best in class’ features and benefits. 

Economy Option

Pros: Toggi Isis Ladies Everyday Breeches are super soft and comfortable from the moment you put them on.  They are made from a breathable fabric that keeps you cool and dry in the saddle. The  knee patch made from imitation suede, gives you just the right amount of ‘stickability’! One zip pockets is handy for treats and / or your mobile phone!

Buy if... you want breeches that you can live in at the yard!

Middle-of-the-Road

The Horze Grand Prix Full Seat Ladies Breech is a comfortable and stylish riding breech made from Horze's exclusive Dura Tough fabric. This fabric is designed to provide long lasting wear whilst maintaining overall comfort.

Cons… the styling is quite bland

Buy if…you want durable, traditionally styled breeches.

Top End

Pros: Tredstep Argenta full seat breeches are the best breeches that we sell in terms of quality and design.  They're made of Scheoller's Prestige fabric which means that the bi-elastic stretch fabric retains its shape exceedingly well, it's continuously hard wearing, it's super comfortable and it's also an impeccable fit even after a long ride.

They also incorporate Scheoller's Nanosphere's technology.  This means that dirt and water simply run off the surface of the fabric – see the video below and on our YouTube channel. This mimics the natural self-cleaning effect of certain plants whose leaves always remain clean, because dirt simply cannot adhere to the finely structured surface, and is easily washed off when it rains.  If you're worried about if this will wash out after frequent washes, you can be assured that it doesn't and what's more washing has no effect on comfort, look, feel, breath ability or elasticity.
