When you get nice warm days like you do often in late summer, you could be fooled into thinking that summer is sticking around. But with cooler mornings and the evenings where temperatures drop away quicker, now is the time to sort your layers for the coming season so that you can happily ride into autumn.
The base layer is the go-to foundation of any layering system: ultralight with a next-to-skin cut. When it starts to get too cool to wear on its own, start layering it under your fave next layer for added warmth. Oh, and you've really got to feel the fabric to realise how nice it is, however I'll tell you anyway... it really is amazingly nice.
